Ukraine braces for key battles on eastern front
- Kramatorsk is a city and the administrative centre of Kramatorsk Raion in the northern portion of Donetsk Oblast, in eastern Ukraine.
- Since October 11, 2014 Kramatorsk has been the provisional seat of Donetsk Oblast, following the events surrounding the war in Donbas. Sievierodonetsk has a similar status for Luhansk Oblast.
- The city is located on the banks of the Kazennyi Torets River which is a right tributary of the Siversky Donets. It is an important industrial and mechanical engineering centre in Ukraine.
India''s Coastline is Eroding : Ministry of Earth Sciences
- The National Centre for Coastal Research (NCCR), Chennai, an attached office of the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), is monitoring shoreline erosion since 1990 using remote sensing data and GIS mapping techniques.
- About 6,907.18 km long Indian coastline of mainland has been analysed from 1990 to 2018.
- In terms of percentage, West Bengal, located on the eastern coast of the country, with a 534.35-km-long coastline, suffered erosion along about 60.5% of the coast (323.07 km) over the period from 1990 to 2018.
- This is followed by Kerala on the west coast, which has 592.96 km of coastline and 46.4% of it (275.33 km) faced erosion.
- Tamil Nadu, with a long coastline of 991.47 km, recorded erosion along 42.7% of it (422.94 km).
- Gujarat, with the longest coastline of 1,945.6 km, recorded erosion along 27.06% (537.5 km) of it.
- In the Union Territory of Puducherry, with a 41.66-km-long coastline, about 56.2% of its coast (23.42 km) recorded erosion.
- Another organisation under the Ministry, the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has prepared and published an atlas of Coastal Vulnerability Index (CVI) maps for the entire coastline of India at a 1:100000 scale, the Ministry informed Parliament.
Union Minister Amit Shah inaugurates Seema Darshan Project at Indo-Pak border
- This multipurpose tourism project was completed under the direct guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- ‘Seema darshan Project’ was initiated with the aim to provide an opportunity to the people so that they can visualize the life and work of the BSF personnel on our border.
- BSF is constantly protecting our borders in very adverse weather conditions.
- Under the ‘Seema Darshan Project’, all kinds of tourist facilities and other special attractions have been developed at a cost of 1 crore 25 lakhs.
SpaceX capsule carrying 3 paying customers, former NASA astronaut arrives at International Space Station
- The Ax-1 mission, which was organized by Houston company Axiom Space, is flying on the SpaceX Crew Dragon Endeavour.
- Axiom Mission 1 (or Ax-1) is a private crew mission to the International Space Station (ISS), operated by Axiom Space out of Axiom Space''s Mission Control Center (or MCC-A) in Houston, TX. The flight launched on 8 April 2022, from Kennedy Space Center.
- Axiom Space was founded in 2016 with the goal of creating the world''s first commercial space station.
AIR News launches new weekly interactive programme Abhyaas for Competitive Examinations
- It is aimed at reaching out to students and job-seekers preparing for competitive examinations.
- The programme is in Hindi and is broadcasted every Saturday between 9.30-10pm.
- Every week a subject is chosen. Students can ask questions through WhatsApp or email and a guest speaker or expert responds to their queries. Questions on each subject are selected on the basis of crowd sourcing from students across the country.
- The program also includes segments like Explainer, Factfile, Examination Calendar and Question of the Week.
Believers celebrate Palm Sunday in Kerala
- Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter.
- The feast commemorates Jesus'' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in each of the four canonical Gospels.
- Palm Sunday marks the first day of Holy Week.
- For adherents of mainstream Christianity, it is the last week of the Christian solemn season of Lent that precedes the arrival of Eastertide.
President of India Inaugurates Madhavpur Ghed Fair
- Since 2018, the Government of Gujarat in association with the Ministry of Culture is organizing this fair every year to celebrate the sacred union of Lord Krishna and Rukmini.
- Born in today''s Uttar Pradesh, Shri Krishna makes Gujarat his workplace and marries Rukmini, a princess from today''s north-eastern region of our country. According to folk belief, the land of Madhavpur Ghed village has been a witness to their union.
- The Madhavpur Fair connects Gujarat with north-east region in an integral bond.
- Through such events, people, especially the young generation gets a chance to gain knowledge about our heritage, culture, art, handicrafts and traditional cuisine.
- These events also encourage tourism. All the festivals associated with Madhavpur Ghed fair also underline the unity and diversity of India.
NCPCR To Celebrate Pariksha Parv 4.0 From 11th April
- NCPCR has been celebrating exams with its campaign ‘Pariksha Parv’ since 2019, intending to change the outlook of children towards exams stress and overcome their anxiety before exam result at a platform.
