The Sports Authority of India (under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is the premier sports body of the country which will spearhead India's sporting ambitions and develop the environment to promote the sports culture in the country.
- Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG), formerly Khelo India School Games (KISG), means Play India Youth Games, held annually in January or February, are the national level multidisciplinary grassroot games in India held for two categories, namely under-17 years school students and under-21 college students.
- National Sports Talent Contest (NSTC) Scheme that is being implemented to scout sports talent in the age group of 8-14 years from schools.
- Army Boys Sports Company Scheme (ABSC) is to make use of the good infrastructure and disciplined environment of the Army for training boys in the age group of 8-16 years of age.
- SAI Training Centres Scheme (STC), under which the Central Government and State Governments work together for sports development efforts, through the integration of various Schemes.
- Special Area Games (SAG) Scheme aims at scouting natural talent for modern competitive sports and games from inaccessible tribal, rural and coastal areas of the country
- The Come & Play Scheme focuses on encouraging local sportspersons in areas where SAI sports facilities/Centres are operational.
- We should develop different States as centres of excellence for different sports depending upon the inclination of people of that area and their habits and build.
- We should graduate the sports sector as a distinct industry by roping in the corporates
- Promote sports sector education program in a war-footing
- Augment the necessary research and development facilities related to sports
- Government should provide monetary assistance to the sports based firms
- The parents should be sensitised about the scopes and benefits of a sports career to their children
- Collaborating with foreign bodies, broadcasting more sports and glorifying sports persons could also be handy
