Explain the significance of circular bio-economy in achieving a sustainable and climate-friendly future.

Circular bio-economy is a consumption model in which resources are recovered, reused, repaired and sustainably managed as much as possible. The main aim of this model is to prevent wastage of resources and ensure that earth gets time to rejuvenate.

Example of circular bio-economy

  • Plastic recycling
    Plastics should be reused as much as possible. It will prevent their accumulation and the subsequent negative effects.
  • Reducing demand
    The demand for resources can be restricted by using them judiciously without wastage. It could reduce the new demand.

Benefits of circular bio-economy

  • Reduces non-biodegradable waste
    Non-biodegradable products do not get easily decomposed. By adopting bio-economical practices, their usage can be cut down.
  • Economic opportunity for rural community
    Use of natural products can create demand for raw materials. Rural population involved in collection and manufacture of natural products will get economic benefits.
    Ex: Eco-friendly plates made of leaves.
  • Reduce burden on natural resources
    The limited resources of Earth are already over-stretched. By recycling them, the demand for new and fresh ones can be reduced.
    Ex: Water recycling.
  • Renewable energy
    Sustainable energy practices also make up circular bio-economy. Fossil fuel usage has to be cut and more focus has to be given on solar and wind energy.

Thus, circular bio-economy will provide the impetus for sustainable livelihood protection. The method will also protect environment.
