  • Designed to operate in all theatres, including the tropics. It can undertake multifarious types of missions typically undertaken by any modern submarine like anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, intelligence gathering, mine laying and area surveillance.
  1. All means and communications are provided to ensure interoperabilitywith other components of a Naval Task Force. It is built according to the principle of modular construction, which involves dividing the submarine into a number of sections and outfitting them concurrently.
  2. Superior stealth. : Navy is planning to install Air Independent Propulsion(AIP) modules on all six Scorpene submarines to extend their endurance. It allows nuclear submarines to operate without the need to access atmospheric oxygen.  It can augment or replace the diesel-electric propulsion system of non-nuclear submarines.

    1. INS Khanderi(Island fort of Marathas, which played a vital role in ensuring their supremacy at sea in the late 17th century).

  • A tax is said to be buoyant if the tax revenues increase more than proportionately in response to a rise in national income or output.
  • A tax is buoyant when revenues increase by more than, say, 1 per cent for a 1 per cent increase in GDP.
  • Usually, tax elasticityis considered a better indicator to measure tax responsiveness
